Faculty & Staff Giving
Welcome to the 2013-2014 Valencia Faculty and Staff Giving web site. Thank you for your interest in Valencia Foundation and for your dedication to students and their success.
Last years Finish Line eforts helped to finalize scholarships that were already established but are not-quite-endowed. They were legacy scholarships that require a bit more funding before they reach the finish line (ie endowed status) to begin disbursing awards for our Valencia students!
The 2012-2013 faculty and staff giving committee requested to help "move the needle" on Valencia student scholarships created in honor of Valencia faculty, staff and/or alumni.
A number of scholarships were indentified that are close to the 'finish line' and would benefit from faculty and staff support. Best of all, those donations will support future Valencia students finish their own goals.
With over 270 colleagues donating semi-monthly through payroll deductions this campaign was a huge success.
During July and August 2013 the committee will focus
supporting First One, the online peer-to-peer campaign to help first generation college students, thoses that are first in their families to attend college, receive scholarship support.
Valencia Foundation provides vital support to students and to the college through scholarships, endowed teaching chairs, and program support. At 2013 fiscal year end, the foundation provided over $1.3 million in scholarships and student support. Sadly, the scholarship dollars awarded still meets less than half of the unmet documented financial need of our students each year.
This year, two committee chairs were selected to guide the foundation on ways the faculty and staff may help alleviate this student need. Diana Ciesko and Josh Murdock can be reached if you wish to offer your support or serve on the committee. You are also welcome to contact the Valencia Foundation's donor stewardship manager, Donna Marino, with questions.
